David's Radio Advert

Assignment 1

Carphone Warehouse - It's a miracle

Message: The message of this advert is to explain to people that if they have bought a phone from car phone warehouse and it doesn't work they will either fix the phone there and then or they will have   14days to bring it in and you will get a loan phone until your phone is ready and back up and running. If you have a constant problem with your phone they will give you a brand new one. It's promoting them and the services they offer. It provides information about the company and usp and promotional deals like their 'no lemon guarantee'.

Style: The style of the advert is humours as Ed Byrne, who's narrating the ad is, using a different voice to create the idea that the phone is talking to him. The voice is a background voice in the ad. It's also used to promote the brand in the long round.

Purposes: The purpose of this advert is to sell the brand service and it's directly raising awareness for one of the services the brand offers. It's informational as it does explain what the service offers and how it all works.

Use of voice over: The advert uses the form of conversational dialogue but it isn't a usual convo. We get the impression that they're using talking heads, where the main person is talking to the audience making it a lot more personal and specific. We also hear a second voice throughout the advert and they're a funny, light-hearted character which adds some jokes to the advert. The characters are very distinctive, i think this is because of the distinctive adverts each of them have.

Use of sound bed: There isn't much of a sound bed, you can only really hear the two characters talking. This is a bold choice as it means you're purely hearing to people talking and trying to promote the product to you. There's no clear location or setting. This has been done so you're focusing on what they're saying and no other noises.

Persuasive techniques: There aren't many persuasive techniques within this advert but there is persuasive language e.g: the actor gives the audience an instruction this encourages the listener to go into the store and do what the actor said. They also repeat the promotional phrase 'no lemon guarantee' the unusual name of this feature introduces the unique selling point, which is another persuasive feature.

Nationwide

Message: This advert is about nationwide and how they want you to buy a house with them as they're the best.

Style: This a humours advert, this is shown as Matt Lucas and David Walliams are in the advert. They have taken on the roles from they're classic show Little Britain. As soon as you hear them talking you'll instantly recognise the voices from the show and be reminded of the comedic characters. A lot of repetition is used making the advert funnier as they just keep on repeating the same thing. It's a very simple advert as they are very forward in what they want and the main products they keep on highlight is the mortgages they offer.

Purposes: The purpose of this advert is to sell and promote the brand as well as particular parts of the brand.  They've done this by comparing their brand saying ' unlike some places'

Use of voice over and sound bed: The voice over features the characters which show of their personalities very well. The characters are having conversations but they're made to be distinctive as the voices are singled out, there isn't lots of background noise so you can pay attention to what they're saying. There's a slight echo would could mean they are in the shop and having the conversation there.  The women talking at the end is much more formal and serious compared to the other characters. The sound bed is kept to a minimum to keep the advert plain.

Persuasive Techniques: The main persuasive technique used in this advert is celebrity endorsement as they have used David Walliams and Matt Lucas. The fact they have come back to bring back their characters from the hit show 'Little Britian' in which they are very well known for.
